We believe Sharon and Kevin to be some of the most talented dancers in the world. Watch this video of them winning this Jack & Jill competition at the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown in 2007 (they're the first couple, Sharon's wearing the red skirt) and see if you agree with us:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8sseC91FAw

Kevin and Sharon don't normally teach with each other, so this is an extra special occasion they've presented us.

Here are the details:
Sat May 31st from 11AM-5PM at the Ethical Society on Rittenhouse Sq.
Kevin & Sharon will teach four 1h 15m classes for a total of 5 hours instruction & one 1h break.
If you register before May 24th, the workshops will be $50. On May 24th, registration goes up to $60. Single class passes will only be available on the day of the workshop for $18 per class, space and lead/follow balance allowing.
In order to register and find out more information, visit our event page and following the directions to RSVP:

As always, I don't write 'em, I just post 'em. I am particularly fond of the 4th one, though.

-------------------------------------

Arkansas doesn't see that many hang gliders, so when Bubba saved up and bought himself one, he didn't really know where to go to get instruction.

He just took it to the top of the highest hill around, took off running, and, when he reached the edge, up into the wind he went!

Down below, Maw and Paw were sitting on their front porch, swinging and talking about the good old days when suddenly Maw shouted, "Paw! Lookee there! Ain't that the biggest bird yew ever seen?"

Paw agreed, reached into the living room, grabbed his shotgun, took careful aim, and "BANG! BANG!"

The monster bird continued sailing silently overhead. "I think ya missed him, Paw," said Maw.

"Yeah, mebbe so," he grunted, "but at least he let go of Bubba!"

-------------------------------------

Father: "So you want to be my son-in-law, do you?"

Boyfriend: "Not particularly, but since I want to marry your daughter, I haven't much choice!"

-------------------------------------

Two executives were talking in the executive washroom.

"My wife says I don't display enough passion. Imagine the audacity! I think I'll send her a memo!"

-------------------------------------

Always keep several "get well" cards on the mantle.

That way, if unexpected guests arrive they will think you have been sick and unable to clean.

-------------------------------------

A cabbie picks up a Nun.

She gets into the cab, and notices that the very handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring.

"I have a question to ask you, but I don't want to offend you," says the cabbie.

"My son, you cannot offend me," says the Nun. "When you're as old as I am and have been a Nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive."

"Well," said the cabbie, "I've always had a fantasy to have a Nun kiss me."

"Well, lets see what we can do about that," the Nun replies. "First, you have to be single and, second, you must be Catholic."

The cabbie is very excited and says, "Yes, I'm single and Catholic!"

"Okay," says the Nun. "Pull into the next alley."

The Nun fulfills his fantasy with a passonate kiss but, when they get back on the road, the cabbie starts crying.

"My dear child," says the Nun, "why are you crying?"

"Forgive me, Sister, for I have sinned," says the cabbie. "I lied, and I must confess that I'm married and I'm a Methodist."

That's okay," says the Nun. "My name is Kevin and I'm going to a costume party."

-------------------------------------

A man was driving down the road and ran out of gas. Just at that moment, a bee flew in his window.

The bee said, 'What seems to be the problem?'

'I'm out of gas,' the man replied.

The bee told the man to wait right there and flew away. Minutes later, the man watched as an entire swarm of bees flew to his car and into his gas tank.

After a few minutes, the bees flew out.

'Try it now,' said one bee.

The man turned the ignition key and the car started right up.

'Wow!' the man exclaimed, 'what did you put in my gas tank'?

The bee answered ...

"BP"

-------------------------------------

Two lovely female foreign immigrants, newly arrived in the United States, noticed people lining up to buy food from a cart.

"I've heard that people here eat dogs," said one of the women.

"Really?" said her friend, "But we're in America, so we should do as Americans do."

They headed for the cart.

"Two dogs, please," she said.

The vendor handed her two hot dogs wrapped in foil.

The young women excitedly headed for a bench and unwrapped their meal.

The first to open the foil blushed and whispered to her friend, "What part did you get?"

-------------------------------------

Little Johnny was five years old and just learning to read.

He and his mother were reading a book on animals when he pointed at one page and cried, "Look, Mommy! It's a frickin' elephant!"

His mother took a deep breath and said, "What did you say?"

"It's a frickin' elephant, Mama! Look! It says so right here!"

And so it did: "African Elephant."

Ain't Hooked on Phonics wonderful?

-------------------------------------

A Mexican, an Arab, and a redneck girl are in the same bar.

When the Mexican finishes his beer, he throws his glass in the air, pulls out his pistol, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In Mexico , our glasses are so cheap we don't need to drink with the same one twice.'

The Arab, obviously impressed by this, drinks his beer, throws it into the air, pulls out his AK-47, and shoots the glass to pie ces. H e says, 'In the Arab World, we have so much sand to make glasses that we don't need to drink with the same one twice either.'

The redneck girl, cool as a cucumber, picks up her beer, downs it in one gulp, throws the glass into the air, whips out her 45, and shoots the Mexican and the Arab. Catching her glass, setting it on the bar, and calling for a refill, she says,

'In America we have so many illegal aliens that we don't have to drink with the same ones twice.'

-------------------------------------

T-shirt Slogans:

1. "I'm not a gynecologist, but I'll take a look."

2. "Every day I live with fear, but occasionally I leave her and go drag racing."

3. Seen on an attractive and busty young blonde: "Admit it: You'd go to jail for this."

4. "I like to snatch kisses and vice versa."

5. Seen on an attractive and busty brunette: "Size DOES matter!"

6. Seen on a different attractive and busty brunette: "We could mate ...(picture of black widow spider) ... but then I'd have to kill you."

7. Seen on a very overweight guy in a parking lot: "I beat anorexia."

8. "Goal Of A Bitch: To dominate, control and destroy a man's finances, mental health, self-esteem and any hope for happiness." Seen being worn by one.

9. "50,000 battered women and I'm still eating mine plain?!"

10. Seen on a fat guy with a mustache: "I'm the teenage girl you jerked off in the chatroom with."

-------------------------------------

A Riddle:

You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a 'drop off', (The ground is 18-20 inches below the level you are traveling on), and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping horse, which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a galloping zebra. Both the horse and zebra are also traveling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

* Get yur drunk-ass off the merry-go-round. *

-------------------------------------

That's all. Isn't it enough?
_________________
"I must say, however, that if they were left alone together, my car would definitely kick your car's ass,
and your cute mini would run home crying little tears of washer fluid." - my college boyfriend

"That statement has a high degree of ambiguosity." - my database consultant guy

That was cool. There were tons of people out. One guy cheered loudly every time they swapped out the images. It was really funny and really fun. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. I wish the weather had been a little better over the weekend. I also wish I had something better than my camera phone. Anyways, it was cool.
_________________

The art exhibit on the facade of the National Cathedral is pretty sweet. Lighting the World is an exhibit where images are projected on the cathedral. Here are my photos:

Yes we met each other !! I remember you! Well that was a long time ago and I can't remember for wich event you were in Toulouse but I know that we dance together!! I'm glad will be able to dance again together !! But I think you don't know the girls as they were not swing dancers in 2005...

That's very kind to you to offer us this opportunity to sleep. However for the moment we haven't planned to rent a car except for going to Celveland. So it might be difficult without a car... But, if we don't find any other solution, we'll be glad to stay with you. We'll rent a car for these 10 days, that will be still more fun and cheaper than going to an hotel !! I hope you understand us ! Anyways, I'll dance with you during our trip!

For the moment, if someone else living nearby the subway or in downtown can host us, even for a few days, that would be great!! The two grils i'm coming with in DC are tiny, so we only need a very small place to stay!!

I'm so excited about this trip!! See you at the end of the month !!
Besides Lindy Hop, I especially like traditional Viennese Waltz (and 19th century partner dancing generally), and also Peabody (especially as done by Chad & Midori).

Oo! Great combo! Bobby and Kate, being the most gratious people that they are, have moved their Bal dance at CCB to May 30th.

That means all you Bal nuts, and everybody else, should come out to Glen Echo on the 23rd and play with us!

And also go see Bobby and Kate on the 30th.

See how everything works out????

YEAH!
